The Detroit Telangana Community (DTC) is proud to launch its flagship educational initiative: the Sponsor a Scholar Program. Our mission is simple yet profound—to ensure that underprivileged, meritorious students never have their education cut short due to financial hardship or family tragedy.

By bridging the gap between generous sponsors and determined students, we protect the academic futures of the next generation.

Our Accountability & Transparency Guarantee

• 100% Direct Impact: To ensure absolute accountability, DTC releases all collected sponsorship funds directly to the administration of the respective school or college. No cash is distributed to families.

• Progress Monitoring: To maintain ongoing eligibility for the program, every sponsored scholar is required to submit their semester report cards and progress tracking back to the DTC Seva Committee.

 

Inaugural Campaign: Supporting the Pothkanoori Sisters

Location: Janagam, Hyderabad

 

Following an immense family tragedy, three young sisters are fighting to secure their future. After losing their father to cancer in late 2023 and their mother to a sudden heart attack in July 2025, the responsibility of the household fell completely on the eldest sister, Irichandana (23).

While Irichandana works tirelessly as a full-time Data Analyst earning a modest salary, her income is severely stretched trying to handle daily living expenses alongside heavy institutional fees.

Both of her younger sisters are exceptionally bright, top-performing students. We are stepping in as a community to make sure financial constraints do not stop them from achieving their dreams.

Meet Our Scholars & Support Their Education

 

1. Sanjana Pothkanoori – B.Tech (1st Year)

• College: CMR Technical Campus

• Academic Merit: Outstanding 8.86 CGPA in her 1st Semester

• Annual Tuition Fee Requirement: ₹1,40,000 (Approx. $1,700 USD)

• The Goal: Cover her engineering college tuition to allow her to focus fully on becoming a successful technology professional.

2. Shereesha Pothkanoori – 9th Class

• School: MNR High School

• Academic Merit: Excellent score of 504 out of 600 Marks

• Annual School Fee Requirement: ₹70,000 (Approx. $850 USD)

• The Goal: Fund her high school education and foundational years to keep her on her path of stellar academic achievement.

 

How You Can Contribute

You can choose to support the sisters in the way that works best for you through the donation portal below:

1. Full Academic Sponsorship: Completely cover the annual fee for either Sanjana or Shereesha.

2. Partial Co-Sponsorship: Contribute any amount (e.g., $50, $100, $250) to collectively chip away at their overall tuition goals.

3. General Scholar Fund: Contribute to a general pool that allows the DTC Seva Committee to allocate resources where they are needed most.
