We are committed to promoting the rich cultural heritage, language, and traditions of Telangana while fostering unity, leadership, and community service among our members. Through a variety of events, educational programs, and charitable initiatives, DTC aims to strengthen connections within the community and give back through civic engagement, youth enrichment, and cultural celebrations.

DETROIT TELANGANA COMMUNITY (DTC) Organized Successful Volunteer Event to Fight Hunger

On April 5th, DTC proudly organized a community volunteer event at Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park, Michigan, bringing together nearly 50 dedicated volunteers with one goal: to make a tangible impact in the fight against hunger.

Over the course of the event, volunteers worked side by side to sort and pack an impressive 6,994 pounds of food. This incredible effort will help serve approximately 27,976 people in need across the region.

The atmosphere was filled with energy, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose. Each box packed was a step toward food security for thousands of individuals and families in the community.

DTC President Sreedhar Aietha thanked the amazing team who came together to pack 6,994 lbs of food — enough to serve 27,976 people! The time and effort put in by these volunteers made a real difference.

DTC extends a special thanks to the Seva/Services Committee for organizing and spearheading this meaningful initiative. Their leadership and dedication played a key role in making the event a success from start to finish.

The DTC Youth Council also played an instrumental role by closely working with the Seva/Services Committee to bring in more than 20 enthusiastic youth volunteers to the event. Their involvement brought fresh energy and a strong sense of community spirit, showing how the next generation is stepping up to give back.

Forgotten Harvest, a local organization committed to relieving hunger and preventing food waste, was the perfect partner for this initiative. The event highlighted how collective action and a few hours of service can create lasting change.

DTC is grateful to all who participated and looks forward to hosting more events that bring the community together in service of those in need.

DTC Women’s Committee is proud to announce that Detroit Telangana Community (DTC) collaborated with AIWA and actively participated in the International Women’s Day celebration held at Schoolcraft College on March 15, 2025.

This empowering event brought together remarkable women from diverse backgrounds, fostering meaningful connections, insightful discussions, and a shared commitment to resilience and progress.

The event featured inspiring keynote speakers who shared powerful messages on gender equality, empowerment, and the strength of unity—sparking thoughtful conversations and inspiring action. Interactive sessions encouraged collaboration, learning, and personal growth, while the culinary team’s deliciously crafted dishes added a special flavor to the celebration.
